Sarah Press, LCSW
It is a great honor to be a licensed clinical social worker. With each client, I create a collaborative therapeutic environment defined by curiosity, compassion, and warmth.
I work with adults of all ages, during fundamental shifts across life stages, using a somatic- and neuroscience-informed mindfulness. As a social worker, I treat the whole person, considering their life histories and their entire physical, social, emotional, and spiritual selves.
My integrative practice draws from various disciplines to develop a personal and productive therapeutic relationship. I incorporate multiple modalities including EMDR and Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
I have worked in group practice with children, teens, adults, families, and couples navigating anxiety, depression, PTSD, generational trauma, and recovery. Prior to working as a psychotherapist, I trained and practiced as a palliative care social worker in hospitals and hospice. In those settings, I served individuals and families navigating serious illness, loss, and Grief.
My experiences in end-of-life care have lent a particular sensitivity toward all my clients in places of transition and untended loss throughout the life cycle.
My practice is a safe place to be seen, heard, and supported toward meaningful healing and Growth.
I attended UC Santa Cruz as an undergraduate and UC Berkeley, California State University, Monterey Bay, Smith College School of Social Work, and Trauma Recovery-EMDR HAP for my master’s and post-master’s education.
Outside of work, I love to read, make pottery, walk in nature, and cook for and with my friends and family.
