Robin Kermott, Psy.D.
I am Kyle “Robin” Kermott, Psy.D. and I provide holistic, depth therapy to help individuals heal from numerous mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, stress, life transitions, many others. At the core of my work, I try to help each of my clients find the meaning, and satisfaction they seek in life.
Finding a therapist who you can trust, and who will help you, is a difficult process. You are seeking a therapist because you are in a challenging part of your life. And you need someone who is going to be understanding, compassionate, and supportive. I care deeply about providing those things for the people I work with. Life is hard right now, and I care about helping to make it easier.
I completed my Doctorate in Psychology at the American School of Professional Psychology, in San Francisco. I also completed a 2-year fellowship at Wright Institute Los Angeles, where I conducted therapy, in addition to developing and running community based programs for individuals with moderate to severe mental health issues. As a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY30363), I have the highest level of training in the treatment of mental health issues. I am the 2017 recipient of the APA Scholar Award (Division 39), and have an advanced certification in psychoanalytic psychotherapy. And I am a member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Division of Psychoanalysis of the APA.
I am also an Adjunct Professor at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where I teach and supervise doctoral students in the Clinical Psychology Program (Psy.D.).
Through my work and training, I have found psychoanalysis to be the most useful method for helping people find lasting relief from their symptoms. Additionally, using this insight-oriented therapy method has the added benefit of often increasing an individual’s overall life satisfaction. In addition to psychoanalysis, I utilize mindfulness techniques, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy when they will be most helpful.
When I’m not practicing, you can find me either buried in a book, or out on my motorcycle searching for the greatest twisty, mountain roads the area has to offer.
