Andrea Thomas, Psy.D.

I’m a licensed therapist, and I work with adults and adolescents who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward. Many of the people I see are dealing with anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, or life transitions. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, make sense of what’s going on, and find practical ways to feel better.

My style is collaborative and down-to-earth. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy, and I don’t sit back silently while you do all the work. We’ll talk, reflect, and figure things out together. In our sessions I will use CBT, DBT, and mindfulness-based approaches to skills building and problem solving, while always paying attention to what feels most helpful for you. I believe therapy should feel safe, respectful, and real. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start, and you don’t need to explain things perfectly. Showing up as you are is enough.

I began my career in mental health as a psychiatric nurse and earned my doctorate in psychology from Alliant University. I have experience in both private practice and clinical settings. My specialties include trauma-focused therapy, mindfulness, attachment patterns, and somatic work. Outside of sessions, I stay current with research and ongoing training to ensure you receive effective, ethical care.

When not at work, I enjoy baking, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
